Course Guarantees

How does the course support student success?

The British College of Journalism provides clear student guarantees to ensure learners can study the online journalism course with confidence and support from start to finish.

Students are only accepted onto the course if there is a reasonable expectation that they can complete the coursework, based on the information provided in the Tutor Information section of the application.

If a student completes the course but the examining board decides the diploma should be withheld, the College will provide additional tuition, feedback, and the opportunity to resubmit assignments at no extra cost. If, after this further support, the required standard is still not met, course fees will be refunded in full.

To qualify for this guarantee, students must complete the course and demonstrate a reasonable level of effort throughout their studies.

What guarantees does the course offer?

7-Day Refund Period

You may review your first tutorial for up to seven days from your course start date. If you decide the course is not right for you, simply email the British College of Journalism within this period and you will receive a full refund of any course fees paid.

Graduate Support Guarantee

Support does not end at graduation. The College continues to provide guidance and assistance as graduates begin applying their skills in the real world. If you are serious about seeing your work published, the College remains committed to helping you achieve that goal through continued support.

First Payment Support Guarantee

The College continues working with you until you see your first payment, even if it takes a year!

Ready to study with full support and guidance?

In designing this online journalism course, the British College of Journalism has created a clear pathway for people outside the industry to become paid freelance writers with access to real opportunities.

This course covers the full process, from developing story ideas to writing finished articles and selling your work to publications.

No specialised skills or qualifications are required to succeed in freelance journalism. What matters most is learning how to apply the craft effectively.

All you need is the desire to succeed and the willingness to learn.
