I had always aspired to study creative writing or journalism but never quite had the time or courage to do much about it, until I came across the British College of Journalism. The information on the website piqued my interest so I made some initial enquiries and decided I had nothing to lose from investing in something at the very least I knew I would enjoy. From the outset, the friendly and informative staff made me feel at ease about enrolling in the course, by understanding and answering any queries I had.
Although eager to receive the material for the first tutorial, I felt slightly anxious about completing a distance learning course, unsure if I would truly learn the skills required to take the passion of writing to the next level. It turns out I needn’t have worried. The course content allowed me to develop new skills and encouraged me to tap into a creative side I felt had been longing to escape! Each tutorial included a vast amount of relevant and useful information; even now I still refer to the material and feedback provided by the College.
The support of my tutor made the course a truly enjoyable experience. From the start it was apparent that my tutor had a remarkable depth of experience and knowledge. She consistently provided constructive and balanced feedback as well as helpful comments which encouraged a variety of thought provoking processes.
Since finishing the course I’ve become involved in corporate journalism where I provide PR services to a number of companies and assist with creative writing for leading brands. Additionally, while travelling with work, I can always be relied on to have a mottled notebook with a number of pieces I write about when visiting new places. My vision is to one day make sense of my well-travelled notebook and publish the content. Thankfully, owing to the course, I have the knowledge of how to do this as the driver behind the travel writing.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Professional Freelance Journalism Course. Having initially enrolled to learn and improve my general writing skills, it has met all expectations and given me the knowledge and confidence to take writing to another level. I would not have been able to tap into the field of writing without having completed the course.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this thrilling and fulfilling course to anyone looking to expand their knowledge in freelance journalism or indeed merely undertake for personal enjoyment. I just wish I’d known about it sooner!
